Toronto Star: Bamboo has incredible qualities.
Posted by blog under Community
Designers like to work with it and consumers like to buy it because bamboo has incredible qualities.
For starters, it’s soft like cashmere. Plus, it’s drapey like rayon. It’s highly absorbent. In hot temperatures, it stays about 2 degrees C cooler than the surrounding air. It’s naturally antibacterial. It’s washable. It’s hypoallergenic. It costs about the same as cotton.

Everyone seems to be profusely praising the merits of bamboo fabric, but
it all sounds like advertising copy. I bought a T-shirt at your store during the Pinellas Living Green Expo in June to try it out because of its novelty and the eco-talk. However, I found that the fabric of the shirt started breaking down under the arms within a few months, far sooner than cotton ever did. I think some real-world testing may be needed before everyone jumps on this bandwagon.
Based on my experience, I doubt that I or any of my family or friends are likely to ever buy another garment made of bamboo.

I’ve been researching this new bamboo material, and to respond to Namaste comment above:
Bamboo may not be durable in how it was constructed for a shirt like Namaste purchased, but if bamboo is being used for infants apparel such as ‘bamboo cloth diapers’ then it has to out-stand lbs of Sh#%$ and 1000 of washes! Right?!
